Task 1 重复2021.9.11
Some people like to celebrate their birthday or holidays with large gatherings orparties, Other people prefer to celebrate in quieter ways alone or with just a fewpeople. Which do you prefer? Explain why.
生日喜欢大聚会还是一个人过或者和很少的人过。
Task 2
学生提议学校把student center里面的food cart取消听力女生不同意
1.因为没有放置垃圾桶
2.餐车也卖水果和果汁,并且能让学生在课间买东西吃,上课就可以保持专注。
Task 3
Shared-Cost Effect(分摊成本效应)
Task 4

1.禁止捕捞螃蟹,影响蟹民生计;
2.引入亚洲牡蛎,新物种可能会带来疾病
3.使用化肥不仅仅是湾区农民,而是临近6个州都在用,都教育不使用,不太可能。

The Chesapeake Bay, located in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware on the East Coast of the United States, is the country's largest estuary (body of water where rivers flow into the ocean). Once home to thriving populations of marine life, the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem has declined greatly in recent decades. However, there are steps that can be taken to help restore the bay and its marine life.
First, strict catch limits can be set on marine creatures sucas crabs whose numbers have been declining because of overfishing. Limiting the number of crabs that can be caught would be an effective solution. Similar measures saved other bav animals in the past: at one time, the bay' population of striped bass was quite low, but after strict catch limits were put in place, bass populations returned to healthy numbers.
Another measure that can be taken is restoring the oyster population. Oysters, which are filter feeders, play a crucial role in the bay ecosystem by removing impurities from the water; unfortunately, oysters have been declining since they are vulnerable to disease. A solution would be to import Asian ovsters which are known to be resistant to the diseases in the bay. lmporting Asian oysters would help replenish the bay's oyster stocks.
Third, we need to conduct an educational campaign toconvince farmers to grow food with less fertilizer so that less fertilizer runs off and pollutes the bay. When it rains, fertilizers are washed away from fields and into streams and rivers that empty into the bay.

Some educators think that in our global, tech-oriented world, students need to focus on nonfiction texts, such as news stories, technical manuals, or other informational materials. They say that reading poetry, novels, and short stories is not the optimal use of the limited time that students have in the classroom. How do you view this approach to education? Should schools limit the teaching of fictional texts in favor of teaching more practical, nonfiction texts?
Andrew
Education has to evolve. Nowadays there's an enormous amount of economic and political data freely available online. lt's important that students can evaluate this information to understand local and world events in order to be good citizens. Reading fiction is a wonderful hobby but school should prepare, students for adult life and its responsibilities.
Claire
I spent a lot of class time in high school analyzing literature. I'm studying to be an engineer, so l admit that reading fiction in school was not directly applicable to my future occupation, but it did instill in me a love of reading, which is very valuable. I feel better equipped now to understand all sorts of written material.
