平行结构含义：两个或两个以上句法、功能相同的词，词组或句子，通过并列连词、并列词组连接起来而构成，共同承担句子的某一成分的结构叫做平行结构。

2.类型：

(1) 比较平行

1)  A than B

2) (not) as A as B

3) (not) so A as B

4) (not) such much as A as B

3. 用法

（1）比较对象前后的形式和功能完全一致。

例如1

It is far easier to ride a bicycle than to explain in words exactly how a bicycle is ridden.

解析：than之前是to ride，根据前后一致的原则，than后面应该也是to do的形式，所以用to explain。

（2）对于前面出现的不可数名词或单数名词，用that代替；可数名词用those代替。

例如1

The title of this book is more interesting than that of that book.

解析：比较的是这本书与那本书的title，是单数名词，所以用that代替。

例如 2

The contents of this book are more interesting than those of that book.

解析：比较的这本书与那本书的contents，是复数名词，所以用those代替。
