20250208雅思写作真题:Some people think rapid population growth in cities only benefits people who live there while others believe that there are disadvantages. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
With the sweeping trend of(随着---的风靡) urbanization, numerous migrant workers have flooded into cities for the sake of greater career prospects and more perfect public services. Under this circumstance, an absolute consensus can hardly be reached whether this phenomenon isa blessing or a curse(是福是祸). I will make an objective analysis of this argument in my following essay.
Some people harbor the belief that rapid population growth in cities does a great job in(有助于) boosting economic prosperity, and then benefits local dwellers immensely(受益匪浅). For one thing, more population provides abundant labor force, which can act as the greatest driving force to boost long-term boom. For another, the government will equip people with well-established facilities and superior services in densely populated urban centers, such as education and healthcare. In this case, they can gain swift and convenient access to(快速方便接触到) various social resources, and then improve their life quality to a larger extent.
However, others maintain that overcrowded city center will bring about a series of problems, which will trigger some degree of imbalance in the smooth operation of urban areas. To be specific, overcrowding can lead to inadequate housing, overburdened public services, and heavy traffic congestion, deteriorating the very quality of life that initially attracted people to the city. Furthermore, rapid urbanization can exacerbate social inequalities. The competition for resources and opportunities can also fuel social tensions and give rise to (导致) a sense of isolation, which is the least thing we would expect to see(这是我们最不希望看到的事情).
From my own perspective, although the potential benefits of urban expansion, such as economic growth and improved access to services, are undeniable, it is crucial to acknowledge and address the accompanying challenges. Hence, effective urban planning, combined with policies promoting affordable housing, efficient transportation, and sustainable resource use, is vital. With the right measures in place, cities can harness population growth to enhance citizens’ quality of life while mitigating its most pressing drawbacks.
