雅思写作图表题 | during/over/throughout the period

今天就来详细的聊一聊，雅思考试当中，雅思图表写作的一个考点和难点。类似于下图: 最高的一组柱子(local-fixed lines)，一开始1995年跟最后2002年是一样大的，在总结的时候能说成是remain stable 吗？

▲ during, 有两层意思：
1. 在…整个期间；贯穿...整个期间：
If something develops during a period of time, it develops gradually from the beginning to the end of that period.

2. 在…期间的某一个时候(或时刻)：
An event that happens during a period of time happens at some point or moment in that period.

Local fixed line 这一组柱子在整个时期内当然不是稳定，在整个时期内它是先上升，后下降。也并没有在其中的某一个时刻稳定，因为它要么在上升，要么在下降。

▲ over the period
它跟 during the period 的第一个意思有很大的重叠部分，表示整个时间跨度。不同之处在于，当用来表示数据的变化时， over 是一种更宏观的角度，它强调是只看一头一尾的总体情况。

比如一个大学生大一是年级第100名，大二20名，大三60名，大四30名。我们可以说：总之，这四年，这位同学的成绩上升了，从大一的100名到了大四的30名。这就是over 的概念。

所以我们可以说: Time spent on local fixed lines reamained stable over the period from 1995 to 2002.

因为图表的总体概括通常都是整时间跨度的总结，所以over在总体概括写作中出现频率是最高的。

这是雅思图表写作中经常需要使用，范文中出现概率非常高的短语。

If you say that something happens throughout a particular period of time, you mean that it happens during the whole of that period.自始至终，在每一个时间点上都是这样。

大家可以看到在第一个图表中local fixed line自始至终在每一个时间点都是最大的。所以要表达这个意思是就写成throughout the period.
